Indications : Respiratory tract infections : Bronchitis, bronchiectasis, otitis media, sinusitis, pneumonia, pharyngitis.
Skin and soft tissue infections : Cellulitis, furuncles, abscess, carbuncles, infected burns.
Other infections : Osteomyelitis, endocarditis, urinary tract infections, prophylaxis in bone and joint surgery, prophylaxis in neonatal infection.
Dosage & Administration : Adults (Oral) : 500 mg every 6 hours, at least 30 minutes before food.
Children (Oral) : Under 2 years : 125 mg every 6 hours.
2 – 10 years : 250 mg every 6 hours.
Adults (Injection) :
By intramuscular injection : 250 mg every 4 – 6 hours.
By slow intravenous injection or by infusion : 500 mg every 4 – 6 hours. In severe infections dosage may be doubled.
Children (Injection) : Under 2 years : Quarter of the adult dose.
2 – 10 years : Half of the adult dose.
Cloxacillin is contraindicated to Penicillin hypersensitive patients.
